Generator.x
“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”
– Arthur C. Clarke.
Generator.x is a conference, exhibition and concert dealing with the use of software and generative strategies in digital art and design.
Generator.x was first produced in the winter of 2005. The first conference and concert was produced by Atelier Nord. The exhibition was produced by National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design. This exhibition is touring Norway 2005 and 2006. Rikskonsertene produced a concert tour that is travelling Norway in 2006. Marius Watz is the initiator and curator for Generator.x. He is writing the Generator.x blog on generative art and design. See Generator.x for updated information on the tours.
Generator.x explores aesthetic strategies for a digital world. The conference and exhibition present a new generation of artists and designers who embrace computer code as their tool of choice. Their creative expressions are made possible by a new understanding of software as an aesthetic material with potential for subjective interpretation, and not just as a technical obstacle.
