Studio – Autumn 2026
Residency recipients
In April, Atelier Nord launched an open call for residencies in our sound and editing studio. The studio is a free resource for professional visual artists working with moving image, sound, or web-based projects. These five artists have been awarded residencies for autumn 2026: Mohamed A. Gawad, Stine Marie Korsfur, Sara Baban, Dariusz Wojdyga, and Anna Fabricius.
Mohamed A. Gawad: 3 August–30 August
In August, Mohamed A. Gawad will work in the studio on the video project Letters to a Drowning Library. The project explores memory, loss, and what happens to archives as they begin to disintegrate, using found footage, video material, and text. During the residency, Gawad will focus on editing, sound work, and writing. He plans to present a multi-screen version of the work in the exhibition project Dusk Air at Closing Time.
Stine Marie Korsfur: 31 August–27 September
In September, Stine Marie Korsfur will use the studio to develop a project based on logging flights she has taken over the past years while working as a flight attendant. In the studio, Korsfur will transcribe the collected data through coding and create minimalist compositions that transform each destination into its own theme. Inspired by artists such as Laurie Spiegel, Suzanne Ciani, and Brian Eno, the project aims to take shape as a three-part work: an album, an art documentary, and a photo book. The narrative is not the journey itself, but rather an interpretation of these movements as memories, and a navigation through a constantly shifting landscape.
Sara Baban: 28 September–25 October
In October, Sara Baban will work in the studio editing and assembling film material from her field research trip to Chanderi, India, in 2026. The project, titled Echo of the Rhythm, will be presented in a film screening at Nitja Centre for Contemporary Art. Through a research-led field journey, the film approaches the handweaver’s rhythmic, intergenerational practice — a quiet dialogue between body, thread, and time, shaped by centuries of craft tradition. The project is developed in collaboration with Geetanjali Prasad.
Dariusz Wojdyga: 26 October–22 November
During his autumn residency, Dariusz Wojdyga will develop sound and video works for the solo exhibition Cabinet of Sub-Natural Curiosities, scheduled to be shown at Galleri RAM in autumn 2027. The project investigates hidden landscapes beneath the surface of the Akerselva river, with a particular focus on the relationship between nature, waste, and sustainable artistic practice. In the studio, he will edit a series of short video works, process photographs, and work with sound recordings made both underwater and along the river at various locations and times.
Anna Fabricius: 23 November–20 December
Anna Fabricius will use the studio to edit Bodily Landscape (Kroppslig landskap), a 15-minute short documentary focusing on the body’s functionality rather than its aesthetics. The project is developed in collaboration with the Swedish social initiative HEJA LIVET, which works to improve women’s health and bring attention to taboo subjects. Bodily Landscape aims to challenge external beauty standards and inspire viewers toward a kinder gaze, body acceptance, and gratitude for their own bodies.
