With her installation FERD, Norwegian sound artist Urstad continues her fascination with the various historical technologies that have allowed travel and communication over long distances, such as the telegraph and radio. She is especially interested in those moments when a certain technology is about to go out of date.

In this conversation with writer Rob Young, Urstad will discuss the development of the installation, point out its main features, and talk about her work as an internationally renowned sonic artist.
