«Space has the power to transform business—unlocking the potential of people and organizations. Intentional design, warm hospitality, and flexible solutions enable your team to do its best work.» – WeWork, a coworking company with 341 locations worldwide.

Flexible Schedule is a coworking inspired VR-installation by Maren Dagny Juell that can be visited by appointment in Atelier Nord’s spacious and bright office, located centrally at Grünerløkka in Oslo. Dagny Juell has built a virtual copy of the space, in line with the creative entrepreneur’s need for a well-designed, flexible workplace in an open-plan layout. Experience the zen-like workflow that stems from a new desk every day and free use of the shared espresso machine. Live the life of a freelancer and unleash your creativity without stressing over negligible pension rights, the lack of sick pay, unemployment in cases of personal crisis, or difficulties with being approved for a mortgage – remember, you’re here to be flexible. Besides, we have some really nice green plants.

A series of goopy, tactile sculptures are mirrored as furnishings in the virtual version of the office and visitors are encouraged to touch. With Flexible Schecdule Dagny Juell explores how the sensory apparatus can receive input from a virtual and a physical space simultaneously. She is also interested in how the body is subjugated by economic power structures through the use of language that praises flexibility.

Maren Dagny Juell received her MFA at Chelsea College of Art and Design and currently resides in Ås. Her practice is primarily based on VR, moving image and installation. Recent solo exhibitions include SQUAT/Live Urgently, Trafo Kunsthall, Asker (2018); SQUAT/Special Features, Trønderlag senter for samtidskunst, Trondheim (2018); SQUAT—UAT, Podium, Oslo (2017). Juell is one of the founders of She Will, an art space in Ski. She teaches time-based art at Einar Granum School of Fine Art.

Supported by Arts Council Norway and The Audio and Visual Fund. This is the first time Atelier Nord shows art in our office space. We are planning more activities in the office space in the future.
